@bbbruins1 The average lengh of a newborn is 50-54cm, so that should give you a idea on how big to make it :)

  2. bbbruins1 Says:

Who would dislike this? You make it so easy and fun. I have been searching for directions on how to make these things and you make it easy. I am a very visual person and love the way you have made these tutorials.

  7. bobwilson123 Says:

@SweetThangXD YOu will need to make more rows that the slipper pattern for the hood .. but you prob already guessed that :)

  8. bobwilson123 Says:

@SweetThangXD Hi, I have never added a hood, but if you watch my mary jane slipper video it is the same basic pattern only the cocoon is heaps larger.. use the heel part of the video to make the hood :)

  9. SweetThangXD Says:

This is a great tutorial! :) I am almost finished with mine! You wouldn’t happen to have a tutorial on how to add a “hood”, would you?
Thanks for all of your tutorials! I’ve already made your booties and aviator hat! :)

whoohoo!! i’ve done one & it’s fab =) thank you so much for posting. i’m surprised by how fast it came together too, as a busy mum of 4 i thought it’d take me ages but i had it completed in 3 evenings (about 6hrs! with breaks!!!) my new little neice or nephew will love their new cocoon i’m sure. xxxx

@dreamy885 If the hook isnt too small it might not be pointy :)

This is a great video, very good for a begin-againer like me :P I’ve crocheted before but only rectangles. Anyway, I got all the way through the first video and started over because I had done 12 stitches into the beginning hole because I didn’t think I’d want it that pointy, well then I thought it was too flat. So I restarted with 6 and followed your video exactly and mine isn’t pointy at all. Not sure what happened. I’m using 6.5mm crochet hook and Caron Simply Soft worsted weight yarn.

  16. curlycazzy Says:

hi, great video! can you tell me roughly what length they should be for a newborn. Thanks xxx

  17. allistone80 Says:

    @bobwilson123 like an elephant-sized beanie!

  18. bobwilson123 Says:

@allistone80 So does it look like a extra large beanie ???

  19. allistone80 Says:

6mm. It was the size recommended for my yarn, which is an eyelash yarn. Maybe that’s my problem? I added three more rows, and it is starting to taper off a bit, but it is now 14 inches wide! I only went up to 4 stitches between each increase before I stopped increasing.

  20. bobwilson123 Says:

@allistone80 EEEK !!! It should stop after a few rows but it doesnt sau9ond like it is ? WHat size hook are you using?

  21. allistone80 Says:

I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. I have stopped increasing, but the cocoon is still getting wider and wider. I checked my stitches and there are no increases. Will this start to correct itself if I keep going? I stopped increasing at 8.5 inches, and 4 rows of no increasing later I have an 11 inch width!!
